Box Elder County Sheriff detectives have determined the circumstances surrounding the death of 16-year-old Marcus Elkins in Corinne. According to a press release on Saturday, sometime during the evening of Wednesday, June 26th, three other juveniles met up with and joined Elkins. As reported by the other juveniles involved, there was consumption of alcohol during the night.
Activities took them between two parks in Corinne and at some point during the night, Elkins collapsed. The three juveniles moved him to Bill Flack Park located at approximately 2450 North 4050 West from where he collapsed. At about 7:50 a.m. Thursday morning, deputies responded to the park after a caller found his body.
The Sheriff’s Office will not speculate on the cause or time of death and will wait for the report from the medical examiner. All of the juveniles, including Elkins, are Corinne residents. The other juveniles involved will not be named and no arrests have been made. The investigation will be turned over to the Box Elder County Attorney for further review and determination of charges.
