Trash car racing returns to the Cache County Fairgrounds this weekend – Saturday night at 7p.m. On KVNU’s For the People program on Friday, Wayne West from 1st Place Promotions explained the difference between the more well-known Demolition Derby and Trash Car.
“It’s a poor mans’ sport, it’s very cheap to get into. It’s not the high dollar price of Demolition Derby, but it’s basically Demolition Derby meets Nascar. Cars are competitively racing against each other on a track and fighting for position…trying to finish the required laps of a natural race”, said West.
“But you’re allowed to bump and pass and spin other cars out. We roll cars over and they come back on their wheels and keep going. Sometimes we stop(and)flip them back over”
Culinary Concepts will be providing food options Saturday night. West said they produce a really good pulled-pork sandwich that you need to get there early for before they sell out. Tickets are available at the gate. If you can’t make it this weekend, they will also hold races on August 24th and September 14th.
