Judge sentences Logan man to jail for molesting teenage girl

Tylan Hardman, 24, arrested Thursday, March 19, 2015, charged with an initial offense of object rape, a first-degree felony.

LOGAN — A 24-year-old Logan man was ordered to spend 30-days in jail and three-years probation for sexually touching a teenage girl.

Tylan Hardman was sentenced in 1st District Court Tuesday afternoon. He told the court he wanted to take responsibility for his actions.

Hardman was originally arrested in March 2015, after a woman claimed she was assaulted by him when she was 17-years-old. She alleged to know him at the time and said the assault took place while he was visiting in her home. He was arrested on an initial offense of object rape and later formally charged with sexual battery, a class A misdemeanor. In May, he pleaded guilty.

State attorney Barbara Lachmar said Hardman’s actions were not accidental and showed a pattern of behavior he had with the victim.

Judge Brian Cannell also ordered Hardman to go through sex offender therapy and avoid viewing pornography during probation.
