Freedom Fire 2014 to be packed with great local performances and special tributes

It is time to get tickets to Logan City’s big Freedom Fire Independence Day Celebration and fireworks show the night of Thursday, July 3rd in Utah State University’s Romney Stadium. Committee Chair Holly Fjeldsted says everyone is invited to be there. This year gates will open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8.

Fjeldsted says it will be an event packed with great local performances and special tributes.

“We will have dancers from LaShars and Dance Illusions, a patriotic program (which is always fantastic) courtesy of the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra,” Fjeldsted explains. “We will have Boy Scouts, the Logan City Honor Guard, a military tribute, several of the USU football coaches and Big Blue. An up-and-coming local country band that sings a little bit of everything, Mile Marker 6, is fantastic and we are so excited to have them. And then everyone’s favorite part, for sure, at dark is the fireworks.”

Fjeldsted says Logan’s own Fireworks West, International has something special for children this year and she gave a hint. “It has something to do with ‘Frozen.'”

The event will also feature the first-ever Anthem Idol. Over the past several weeks contestants have been singing the national anthem in front of judges and crowds for the opportunity to sing the Star Spangled Banner at Freedom Fire and be accompanied by the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra. The winner will be revealed that night in Romney Stadium.

All tickets are general admission and cost $8 each or $36 for a six pack and they can be purchased at the Logan Recreation Center, the Logan Aquatic Center, the Cache Valley Visitors Bureau and the USU Spectrum ticket office.
