At approximately 4:15 pm on January 30, 2013, a Cache County school bus slid off the road and rolled onto its side. There were two aides and three children on board, plus the bus driver. One child was in a wheelchair and was not able to exit the bus after the accident. Sheriff’s deputies and other emergency responders were able to pick up the child in his wheelchair and carry him off the bus.
All children were evaluated on scene by medical personnel and were released to their parents. The children are all calm and doing well.
Weather and road conditions were contributing factors to the accident. The bus was traveling on 400 E in Trenton, which was drifted with snow. The lane of travel was difficult to see and the bus driver drove too close to the side of the road. The bus slid into the canal and lay on its side.
The accident is still under investigation by the Cache County Sheriff’s Office.
