Cache Valley’s Tea Party Coalition endorsed candidates for Logan Municipal Council in 2009. That didn’t happen this year but spokeswoman Michelle King says her group has been closely watching what city government is doing. On KVNU’s Crosstalk show, King said she is not impressed with the city’s proposed land development code. She says there is too much about design standards and it goes way beyond what government should be doing. “There is so much in here,” King said, “that I couldn’t even go through and say, ‘well this is good and this is bad.’ For the most part it is very presumptuous for the need to regulate every little piece of landscaping, glass tint, house material. It is very, very minute detail and it is way beyond what a city code needs to be.” King says the new land development code should be scrapped and the city should stick with what they had before. So how does she feel about this year’s municipal election results? King says she differs with re-elected Herm Olsen on many issues but at least he voted against the land development code. She also differs with Tom Jensen on issues but sees him as a “nice man.” King says she personally supported the other new council member, Karl Ward.
