LOGAN – Wizarding Dayz is expanding to Logan’s Cache County Events Center for their premier interactive fantasy experience. Usually held at the Mountain America Expo Center in February, the convention is excited to join the Cache Valley community this summer July 19-20.
“We love the Logan community,” said Carrie Rogers-Whitehead, Owner and Founder of Wizarding Dayz. “There are a lot of families and fun geeks in the college community, so we decided to expand. It’s the first time we’ve taken the show on the road and it’s just for Logan.”
When the 20,000 square foot Cache County Event Center reached out to Wizarding Dayz last year, Whitehead said it seemed like the perfect fit. They’ll be utilizing Logan businesses and volunteers to truly make this a local event.
The venue in Logan offers an outdoor space that isn’t an option for the convention in February. They will be bringing in a blacksmith and forge and have sword fighting and other outdoor activities. The convention also features panels throughout the day, and event space with entertainment all day.
The Summer Carnival will have interactive sets, a Camelot round table, and a “Royalty” theme. Past themes have included Harry Potter, Narnia, and Camelot, and this summer convention will have unique aspects just for Cache Valley, including a custom-built dungeon.
The event has something for all ages and Whitehead said they already have the venue booked to be back in 2020. “We want to be part of the Logan community and grow together,” she said.
Wizarding Dayz was created in 2016 and brings fantasy fans together and books to life. Their interactive experience mixes literacy, art, charity and STEM education. A percentage of the proceeds from the event will be donated to a Cache Valley charity that has yet to be determined.
