It’s the Independence Day holiday and there are some great Cache Valley traditions going on this holiday weekend. This is a guide to all the fun things happening this weekend and all the details are right here.
Kick off Independence Day-eve with Freedom Fire in the USU football stadium. On Wednesday, gates open at 7 and the patriotic program begins at 8. Stick around after the fireworks for a concert after-party so you don’t have to fight traffic.
Fireworks Watch Party
If you can’t make it inside the stadium, Lee’s Marketplace is hosting fireworks watch party, with brats, burgers and live music of their own starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday night.
Lewiston 4th of July Festivities
Independence Day festivities begin Wednesday night in Lewiston with a rodeo at 7. Events on the 4th begin with a flag ceremony, Patriot Border run, parade at 9:15, fun events throughout the day and fireworks at dusk from the rodeo grounds.
Freedom Fest Pancake Breakfast
The Freedom Fest Pancake Breakfast has been a Cache Valley tradition for 50 years. The breakfast begins at 7 a.m. at the bowery behind the church located at 792 North 500 East in Logan on the 4th of July.
Hyrum 4th of July Festivities
It’s a full day of fun in Hyrum to celebrate the 4th of July. Events include a chuckwagon breakfast, Blacksmith Fork Freedom Run, big parade at noon, activities throughout the day and fireworks and entertainment at the soccer fields.
Cache Valley Cruise-In
It just isn’t a normal 4th of July holiday weekend without the Cache Valley Cruise-In! It’s the largest three-day outdoor car show in Utah. The cars are on display Thursday, Friday and Saturday and the fun concludes with that famous car parade down Logan’s Main Street on Saturday.
Loverboy and Survivor
One of the highlights of the Cruise-In is the concert. This year it’s Loverboy and Survivor performing in the Cache County Rodeo Grounds. Gates open Friday at 6:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:30.
Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre
The Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre season kicks off in earnest this weekend with The Marriage of Figaro, Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. in the Ellen Eccles Theatre. That evening is also the debut performance of Newsies. These two shows, along with four others, will run in repertory through the first week of August.
Cache Valley Sprint Triathlon
USU Alumni Band and the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra
Finish off your Independence Day holiday weekend with a special performance of the USU Alumni Band and the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra. The free concert is Sunday at 7 p.m. in the Daines Concert Hall at USU.
