A new book touts getting high without drugs

More and more states are legalizing marijuana for recreational use, but at the same time author Edward Rosenfeld has published a new book entitled: “The Book of Highs: 255 Ways to Alter Your Consciousness Without Drugs.”

He hasn’t tried all 255 ways, but one is a daily practice for him.

“I walk every day I’m not doing radio interviews,” says Rosenfeld. “I walk and it’s an altered state of consciousness for me. It’s a new way to focus and concentrate.

“And concentration is the first and one of the most important entries in the book. To be able to focus your awareness and realize some of these altered states of consciousness.”

He says among the 255 methods, some require caution.

“One is quite clear: that’s fire walking,” exclaims Rosenfeld. “Some people who get instruction in fire walking and walk over the red hot coals, do so without getting burned at all and have a state of exhilaration and accomplishment at the end.

“Other people, even those who get the instruction, walk over the coals and end up with burned feet. So you really have to be careful and considerate about what you choose.”
