A woman was hospitalized Tuesday morning after a two-vehicle accident near Tremonton, involving a school bus.
Box Elder County Sheriff Kevin Potter said the woman was driving a minivan, westbound on 11600 N. near 4800 W., when she failed to yield and hit a school bus that was traveling north. The impact caused the school bus to flip on its side.
“The bus was occupied by the driver, an adult driver and an adult aid, and four elementary aged special needs children,” said Potter. “All of the occupants of this bus were seat belted, so none of them were injured.”
The driver of the minivan was taken by ambulance to Bear River Valley Hospital. A teenage passenger was uninjured. Deputies were unsure, whether the two people were wearing seat belts.
Potter said the accident occurred around 7:45 a.m. as the bus was picking up children for school.
“The school district responded with another bus. They notified the parents and eventually reunited the parents and the kids.”
The accident is under investigation and charges are pending.
