For several years Utah First Lady Jeannette Herbert has been hosting what is called an Uplift Parenting Conference which is designed to help strengthen parent and child relationships and provide resources to improve parenting skills.

The conference is traditionally held at Thanksgiving Point. There is good news according to David Watkins, of the Bear River Health Department, who says the conference is going to be live-streamed to Cache Valley.

Watkins says this will take place Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Spring Creek Middle School in Providence.

On KVNU’s For the People program Tuesday, Watkins said there are many benefits of the conference.

“Parents are able to learn things surrounding how to help their teens or their child do well in school, how to keep them safe,” Watkins said. “They might learn strategies on how to talk about their kids about pornography or substance abuse, how to deal with bullying and suicide issues as well, and suicide prevention.”

Watkins said well-known and respected speakers will highlight the conference and refreshments will be served as well. Registration ends today and you can register online.
