Decorated Christmas trees auctioned off to benefit local schools

A Christmas Tree Jubilee hosted by the Cache Education Foundation will be held on Friday, November 20 starting at 6:30 p.m. The event will be held at Providence Elementary at 91 East Center in Providence.

On KVNU’s For the People program Thursday, foundation president Ted Erekson said it is going to be a great evening.

“We’re going to auction off pre-lit, artificial Christmas trees that have been decorated by some schools and by businesses here in town,” Erekson said. “We’re going to have 22 trees available to bid on. There will be 16-plus wreaths that you can bid on as well.”

Erekson said the sizes, types and decorations on the trees will vary. But he said if someone would like a chance to bid on one of these beautifully decorated trees, they need to register ahead of time. And if they do, they will also be treated with a catered meal.

“The way to get into the bid and the auction is we are going to have a dinner,” he continued. “Justin Hamilton has agreed to help us with that. It is going to be a prime rib dinner.”

Erekson said 100 percent of the proceeds will go into the classrooms in the Cache County School District where there is an urgent need for technology items. For more information, call Executive Director Teri Lewis at 755-2022.
