Tuesday’s vote won’t be official until after the canvass a few days from now. What is official is the opinion of Logan City Recorder Teresa Harris who said the vote-by-mail process used for the first time this year was an all-out success.
After the votes were tallied Tuesday Harris said she felt this method gave her more control. And she said the voters seemed to like it as well.
Best of all Harris said there was a greater voter turnout.
“I’m very happy about the voter turnout,” Harris said. “It’s the highest we’ve had since we had 25% in 2005. This year we had 28% and that’s a pretty good turnout.”
There are currently 15,602 registered voters in Logan City. The number who voted on Tuesday was 4,485, or 28.75 percent. Although she’d like an even higher number she is happy for the improvement over previous years.
