New York takes center stage with Celebrate America Show

“New York–It’s a Wonderful Town.” That’s the theme for the 16th annual Celebrate America Show–In the Miller Mood. The annual event is scheduled to open September 8 and continue through September 12 at the Utah State University Taggart Student Center Ballroom.

Brenda Anthony, the show’s creator and executive director, says the star-spangled show this year follows three fun-loving sailors during World War II while they have 24 hours to spend in New York City.

“They go (to) Radio City Music Hall where they get to see the Rockettes (a facsimile of course), other acts, then they go to Yankee Stadium,” Anthony explains. “What’s more American than baseball?

“Then they end up at the Statue of Liberty where they realize why they are fighting for America.”

Anthony says for one price people get three events: a dinner catered by USU, the Broadway-style show and In the Miller Mood where you can dance or listen to the Stardust Singers and Larry Smith Orchestra with the hit tunes from Glenn Miller.
