Owner and employees of Angie’s excited to serve on Thanksgiving

There is no reason to go without turkey and no reason to eat alone on Thanksgiving because everyone is welcome at Angie’s Restaurant. For many years Angie’s owner Saboor Sahalie has been opening his restaurant and he says nobody will be charged for the dinner.

He says those who can pay and want to pay are invited to contribute to a charity and this year it is the Huntsman Cancer Center. Sahalie says he does this every year to pay back those who welcomed him so warmly when he came here from Afghanistan almost three decades ago.

Angie’s will be open on Thanksgiving day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. So how do his employees feel about it?

“You know they are all, honestly, very, very excited,” Sahalie explains. “Many of the employees will come and say they want to work on Thanksgiving day.

“There is a level of excitement, enthusiasm, and the spirit is there. Everybody wants to take care of our community. They’re having fun and they will be ready to go.”

He expects to be feeding turkey and all the trimmings to at least 1,000 people on Thursday.
