Farmington, UT – Be the Match® National Marrow Donor Program and registry is flying in from Oakland, CA, to make a special appearance and register willing applicants for their marrow donor registry on June 29, 2013, at the “Shake Leukemia! Zumbathon® Charity Event 2013.” This fundraising event is sponsored by Team Mason Foundation, a non-profit organization set up to assist cancer patients, and Zumba® w/Donna in Logan, in an effort to raise money for Brady Homer, of Layton, Utah, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in March of this year and is losing his insurance coverage half way through his projected treatments.
Brady Homer was living his dream; newly married, a Utah State University graduate, and earning the necessary ratings of a commercial pilot. His ultimate goal – to fly the “big stuff” as an airline pilot. Brady and his wife, Tana, won’t be fighting his cancer battle alone. With the help of Zumba® w/Donna in Logan’s, Donna van Uitert, five invited guest instructors, Guiseppa Gubler, of Wellsville; Emerald Green, of Logan; Taylor Thredgold, of Farmington; Cammie Maw, of Plain City; and Karen Gonzalez, of Orem, and a full staff of volunteers, money can be raised to aid the Homers, as well as to give others a chance to be registered as marrow donors!
The event will be held in Farmington at the Davis County Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 29th, 2013, from 7-10 pm, with a silent auction beginning at 6:00 pm. Be the Match® will have a special place at this event in an effort to assist, not only Brady Homer, but the thousands of other patients fighting blood cancers. Named “Shake Leukemia! Zumbathon® Charity Event 2013,” Donna and her staff of volunteers will not only provide an evening of amazing entertainment and exercise, but a silent auction, raffle, and, of course, the opportunity to help those that are patiently waiting for a donor match!
