Franklin County grain co-op merges with Valley Wide

On January 1, 2012 the 81-year old Franklin County Grain Growers Co-op will become Valley Wide Co-op. According to the Preston Citizen, local stockholders voted overwhelmingly in favor of a proposal to merge with Valley Wide in November. Local manager Steve Hinckley says a two-thirds majority of stockholders was necessary for the merger to be approved. Valley Wide has its headquarters in Rupert, Idaho. Valley Wide is a farm supply dealer with several retail and other outlets in southern Idaho and Oregon. Hinckley says the local board and management believed this to be the best way to insure the future of Franklin County Grain Growers operations.
