Cornish farmer recognized by Utah Farm Bureau

Matt and Lena Leak of Cornish have been named recipients of the Utah Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher Achievement Award. The award was presented at the Utah Farm Bureau annual convention last week and is considered the top honor for young farmers and ranchers in Utah. Contestants are evaluated on a combination of their farming operation, growth and financial progress of operation, Farm Bureau leadership and leadership outside of the Farm Bureau. More specifically, the Farm Bureau looks for excellence in management, growth and scope of the enterprise and self-initiative displayed. The Leak family runs a Holstein dairy farm in Cache County and also raises 90 acres of alfalfa, corn and other forage crops. Additionally, Matt works as a dairy nutrition consultant for Cargill Animal Nutrition. Matt and Lena live in Cornish with their five children.
