Aggie Fans Encouraged To Go South Early For Friday’s USU-BYU Game To Avoid ‘Delay of Game’ Penalty

Ogden– The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) reminds Utah State University football fans heading to the game against BYU on Friday to plan ahead for severe traffic delays through the I-15 CORE Interstate 15 construction project, from Lehi to Provo. Delays on southbound I-15 will be most severe during the hours of 4 to 6 p.m. as game-day traffic is expected to peak during the afternoon commute. Because of these conditions and construction activities underway, travel in the area may require double the usual amount of time. UDOT recommends leaving Cache Valley before 2 p.m. to avoid missing the kick-off and first quarter of this annual in-state rivalry game. USU fans traveling I-15 are advised to use exit 272 at Orem’s 800 North Street (SR-52), or Orem Center Street, exit 271, due to heavy congestion on the traditional access to the BYU campus, the University Parkway. Take either street east to University Avenue (US-189), and then proceed south directly to the LaVell Edwards Stadium area. UDOT will be monitoring traffic cameras and coordinating signals to help keep vehicles moving. Priority will be given to routes funneling fans in and out of the stadium area. UDOT will also send regular updates via Twitter, pre- and post-game text messages and using local media to keep drivers informed of the best routes for getting around traffic heading to and from the stadium. UDOT encourages drivers to stay informed about road construction statewide by clicking on the Know Where Know Why tab of the UDOT website at http://udot.utah.gov.
