A 22-year old North Ogden man drowned in the Blacksmith Fork River Saturday morning after trying to rescue his 16-year old sister. Cache County Sheriff Lt. Brian Locke says Gregory Gray and his sister were in Cache Valley on a fishing trip. Locke says the 16-year old lost her footing while crossing the river at an old spillway and slipped into the river. Gray tried to pull her to shore but was unsuccessful and went in after her. She floated downriver and eventually was able to get out on her own but couldn’t locate her brother. She flagged down a motorist for help. Search and Rescue located Gray about 3/4 a mile downriver. He was pronounced dead at the scene,.
