Cache Democrats believe recent events could help their party

Cache County Democrats are holding their county convention and central committee meeting on Saturday, May 28 and this time it is at a new place: the Utah State University Taggart Student Center auditorium. Party vice chair Kathy Snyder says the convention starts at 10 a.m. and everyone is invited to attend. Local party elections will be held and Snyder says all of the current officers are running again. That includes Vince Wickwar as Chairman, Snyder as Vice Chair, Joe Dulin Treasurer and Linda Worlton, Secretary. Republicans dominate Utah’s political scene but Snyder says some things have happened that could help her party. “When you listen to people they’re upset with what the state did,” Snyder claims. “They’re upset with earmarking, 30% of the increase in sales tax for roads. “If you read the newspapers you know that Logan City schools and the Cache County schools are going to have severe budget cutbacks.” In addition to serving as vice chair of the Cache County Democratic Party, Snyder is now the state’s vice chair as well. She does not plan to seek re-election to that office.
