Sheriff’s Office wants you to join their Academy

People have a chance to become a member of the Cache County Sheriffs Office Citizen Academy and get an insider’s look at the operations of the Sheriff’s office. Sheriff Lynn Nelson says the Citizens Academy is one of the really fun things his office does and it runs seven weeks on Wednesday evenings. The next series starts Wednesday, March 2 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. He says those who participate learn what a unique role the Sheriff’s office has. “We do a lot of things different than most police agencies typically do,” Sheriff Nelson says. “You get to take a tour of the jail, tour of dispatch, we talk about SWAT, we talk about court security, patrol, our mounted posse, the history of the Sheriff’s office, and all sorts of things.” For more information and to make a reservation for the Citizens Academy people can call 755-1000.
