Chief Deputy Sheriff retiring

After 34 years with the Cache County Sheriffs Office, Chief Deputy Dave Bennett is retiring. He started with the Search and Rescue group and was hired as a deputy to Sheriff Doug Bodrero in 1980.Five years later Bennett was promoted to sergeant and worked as commander in the Cache County Jail. Since 2004 he has overseen the accreditation process, policy review, the annual Citizens Academy, the annual Sheriffs Office Awards Banquet and all of the federal and state grants.Three years ago Bennett was selected to oversee the implementation of the Corrections Academy which is taught in conjunction with the Law Enforcement Academy at Bridgerland Applied Technology College. Sheriff Lynn Nelson says in this month’s newsletter that the Sheriffs office has been the recipient of Bennett’s highly dedicated and honorable service. In his words, “Dave has made a difference in many lives for the better, especially mine.”
