Future canal needs this summer could be difficult

Things are working well right now according to Keith Meikle, representative of the Logan-Hyde Park-Smithfield Canal Company, but he told the Cache County Council last night that in a week or 10 days when water is needed for the third crop of hay, “it could be a train wreck.” Meikle praised the cooperative efforts of the canal company, Logan City, North Logan and Cache County officials in coming up with the idea of constructing a pipeline in the Lundstrom Parlk area following the July 11th landslide that killed three people on Logan’s Canyon Road. He said the pipeline is a great short term solution but it’s time to work together on a long-term solution that wold prevent such happenings in the future.
