JAC day one results; Utah in 9th place

A pair of sub-par rounds highlighted the first day of play of the Girls Jr. Americas Cup held this year at the Logan Golf & Country Club. Northern California’s Hannah Suh and Southern California’s Emily Tuhert both fashioned a three under par 68 to take the first day lead.Not surprisingly that helped propel their two teams to the top of the leaderboard. Southern California has a one stroke lead over defending champion Northern California and Hawaii.Defending champion Christine Wong of British Columbia got off to a shaky start with an eight over 79.. Utah’s number one player, Sirene Blair, was one under through 12 but finished at three over 74 to tie for 12th.The Utah team is ninth place at 223 and Idaho came in at 14th at 248. Play continues tomorrow starting at 9 a.m., with a shotgun start of 9:30 on Thursday. There is no admission fee, the public is welcome. For complete individual and team summaries go to
